Dr. W. Lloyd Wright
The W. Lloyd Wright Student Wellness Center at Colorado School of Mines honors longtime school physician, Dr. W. Lloyd Wright, and carries forward his legacy of service and dedication. For generations to come, the facility named for him will enrich the Mines experience by promoting health and wellness amoung the campus community.
Dr. Wright served Mines for more than two decades, having settled in Golden in 1946 after serving in WWII. A graduate of the University of Colorado School of Medicine, he practiced in Golden from 1946 until 1980, serving Mines until 1968 and later holding medical director positons at Coors Brewery and Rocky Flats. The university awarded Dr. Wright the Mines Medal in 1986 for his personal and professional contributions to the campus community. The W. Lloyd Wright Student Wellness Center was named in his honor by Wright's nephew, Steve Mooney, '56, and his wife, Gayle, as a tribute to the high standards of care that Dr. Wright embodied in his career.
